Meryl Streep is set to headline a major new Netflix project, as the streaming giant brings Jonathan Franzen’s acclaimed novel The Corrections to the screen.The Oscar-winning actress, 76, will take on the role of Enid Lambert, the determined matriarch at the heart of the story. The series, announced by Netflix on April 2, marks another high-profile television venture for Streep as she continues to expand her already celebrated career.Originally published in 2001, The Corrections became a literary phenomenon, topping The New York Times bestseller list and winning the National Book Award for Fiction.The novel follows Enid as she attempts to reunite her fractured family for one last Christmas amid her husband Alfred’s declining health due to Parkinson’s disease. Their three adult children, Gary, Chip and Denise, are each dealing with personal struggles, making the reunion both emotional and complex.The adaptation will be directed by Oscar winner Cord Jefferson, known for his work on Watchmen and American Fiction. Franzen himself is attached to write the screenplay, ensuring the series remains faithful to the source material. Streep will also serve as an executive producer alongside Jefferson and a team that includes Nicole Clemens, Paul Lee and Mark Roybal.A release date for the TV adaptation has not yet been announced.
