The Government of Uganda has released UGX 259 billion as the first tranche for the capitalization of Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCOs for the 2025/26 financial year.Finance Minister Matia Kasaija confirmed the development this morning, announcing that beginning tomorrow, all 10,589 verified PDM SACCOs will each receive UGX 50 million directly on their accounts. The disbursement follows the PDM policy, under which government releases funds in two equal tranches of UGX 50 million per SACCO every six months to support wealth creation at the parish level.“The Parish Development Model is no longer a theory; it is a reality. It is in your parishes. It is in your households. PDM is growing bigger, stronger, and more impactful,” Kasaija said during the announcement at the Ministry of Finance headquarters.According to the Ministry of Finance, government has so far transferred UGX 3.216 trillion directly to the 10,589 parishes across the country. Each parish has received at least UGX 300 million, with 99% of the funds already disbursed to more than 3.27 million beneficiaries. The latest release is expected to further support income-generating activities, strengthen local enterprises, and accelerate the government’s goal of lifting households out of subsistence livelihoods through the PDM initiative. The post Government Releases UGX 259 Billion to Boost Parish Development Model appeared first on The Insider.
