The campus was inspected on November 13, and “it was established that the…college is continuously violating the provisions” of the 2016 Rules, said the notice.MAMC is classified as a “bulk waste generator” under the Rules. It is required to ensure the segregation of waste at source into dry, wet, and hazardous streams, and process biodegradable waste onsite through composting or biomethanation.These rules had been violated by the institution, officials said. MAMC dean Munisha Agarwal said the matter was being looked into.A total 4,614 challans, adding up to a penalty amount of Rs 18,87,111, had been issued for violations relating to the handling of municipal solid waste until November 12, sources in the MCD said.An additional 482 challans, amounting to penalties of Rs 51,26,301, have been issued for violations relating to garbage burning, non-permissible construction, the dumping of construction and demolition waste, and violation of NGT norms such as cutting of trees in the green belt.Story continues below this adOfficials of MCD’s West Zone last week carried out a sealing drive against illegal polluting units in Bindapur in Ward No. 116, and sealed four industrial units.
