U.S. women’s national team goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce has missed Manchester United’s last two matches and we now know why. Tullis-Joyce has been diagnosed with a fractured eye socket back on November 8, Red Devils manager Marc Skinner reaffirmed Saturday. The veteran shot-stopper suffered the injury against Aston Villa in WSL play, which led to her absence against Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City over the last week. Tullis-Joyce watched from on the bench during Man United’s 2-1 UEFA Women’s Champions League victory midweek. She remained out of action during Saturday’s 3-0 WSL loss to rivals Manchester City.Skinner admitted that Tullis-Joyce shouldn’t miss ample time but also said she is being evaluated fully before returning. “She should be fine, it’s just trying to make sure she doesn’t get another knock in that area,” Skinner said during postmatch media availability on Saturday. The 29-year-old Tullis-Joyce could return as early as Wednesday when Manchester United visits German side VfL Wolfsburg in UWCL action. Tullis-Joyce joined Manchester United from NWSL club OL Reign in September 2023 and signed a new, three-year deal with the club last April. She’s made 14 appearances for the club in all competitions this season and remains a top option for the USWNT heading into 2026. After debuting for the USWNT earlier this year, Tullis-Joyce has earned four caps for the program. Manchester United sits third in the WSL table, seven points back of league-leaders Man City.
