Four arrested for robbery and murder of CCTV technician in Raidurgam

Four individuals, including two minors, were arrested by the Raidurgam police on Monday (November 17, 2025) in connection with the robbery and murder of 24-year-old Saurabh Kumar, a CCTV technician who succumbed to his injuries three days after the attack.The accused were identified as Mohammed Rehaan, 19, a tiles worker, and Mohammad Ibrahim Ahmed, 19, who works at a car wash and two minors, all residents of Hakimpet, Tolichowki.According to investigators, the four accused roamed the areas of Hitech City, Gachibowli and Raidurgam on two motorcycles on the intervening night of November 10 and 11, allegedly with the intention of committing robberies. At around 11.30 p.m., they encountered Saurabh Kumar, who was walking home after work. Near Road No. 45, Jubilee Hills, they approached him under the pretence of offering a lift. Rehaan and Ibrahim then attempted to snatch his mobile phone near the Jubilee Hills Convention Centre, leading to a brief altercation. As passers-by began to gather, they fled the scene while the victim continued on foot.Humiliated by the scuffle, the group reportedly regrouped at a restaurant and decided to attack the victim again. They followed him, collected centring sticks from an under-construction site, and intercepted him near the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) in Raidurgam. They assaulted him and robbed his mobile phone before fleeing.Responding to a Dial 100 alert, patrolling officers shifted the injured man to Osmania General Hospital, where he succumbed while undergoing treatment on November 13.The case, initially registered as attempted murder, was altered to murder. Two special teams were deployed, and the accused were arrested on Monday. Police said the suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation. Rehaan also admitted to selling the stolen mobile phone for ₹2,000.
