(Source: Express Photo)An accident which led to the collision of five vehicles was reported at Bhumkar Chowk, about two kilometres from Navale bridge on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway, on Monday afternoon.ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW VIDEOPolice said five vehicles were damaged in the mishap. No casualties were reported in the incident, a police officer said.Police said around 1.45 pm, a speeding container travelling from Satara towards Mumbai via the Katraj bypass on the Pune – Bengaluru highway, crashed into a pick-up van on the same route from the back, further leading to the collision of three more four-wheelers on the road.After receiving information, a team from Sinhagad road police station rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Senior police inspector Dilip Daingade said that an offence of negligent driving was lodged against the container driver in this case.Daingade said the accident took place about two kilometres away from Navale bridge area, where an accident had caused the death of eight persons and left about 13 persons injured on the evening of November 13. The accident had taken place when an overloaded truck travelling from Satara to Mumbai via Katraj Dehu Road Bypass, lost control on the Navale Bridge slope, hitting multiple vehicles, including a car, around 5.40 pm. The impact was such that the car caught fire after it got sandwiched between the truck and a container on the same route.The driver and cleaner of the truck, along with five persons in the case, including a 3 year old girl, and one more person, had died in this mishap.
