Filming for Line of Duty season 7 is scheduled to begin in Belfast in Spring 2026; the release date is yet to be announced.The series is set to return following Superintendent Ted Hashtings (played by Dunbar) and the officers of the disbanded Anti-corruption Unit 12 as they navigate a new investigation.The upcoming season picks up after the tumultuous events of season six, where Hashtings was forced to retire and several corrupt officers avoided justice. The unit has been rebranded as the Inspectorate of Police Standards, but when Steve Arnott (Compton) and Kate Fleming (McClure) are assigned their most sensitive case yet, they seek their guidance of their former superintendent.In this season, they will be investigating Detective Inspector Dominic Gough, a senior officer accused of being a sexual predator. The show producer, Jed Mercurio, expressed deep gratitude to fans for their support over the years, stating, “We’re privileged to have had so many of you follow the ups and downs of AC-12”. He added that while corruption in the country was expected to have ended during the show’s break, he found inspiration in imagining new challenges.Director of BBC Drama Lindsay Salt praised the show’s success, highlighting its impressive 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the record 13.1 million viewers for the final episode.
