Teresian College Research Centre (Commerce), in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised a two-day national workshop on ‘Statistical Data Analysis Using SPSS’ on Tuesday.P. Paramashivaiah, senior professor and Dean, Tumkur University highlighted the growing importance of research in today’s academic environment.He stressed the need to stay updated and bank on factual and evidence-based information. He encouraged participants to use credible data sources and make newspaper reading a regular habit to stay informed.Binoy T.A., Central University of Kerala, explained that research empowers individuals to adapt to change, validate existing theories, and develop new insights. He emphasised the need for students and researchers to be observant as meaningful research begins with identifying the right problem.Prof. Binoy discussed how research helps in recognising societal issues, collecting data, processing it using SPSS, and deriving meaningful inferences. He further highlighted the importance of selecting appropriate statistical tools for accurate data analysis and theory development.Rohini, principal, Teresian College, spoke about the institution’s commitment to promoting a strong research culture and enhancing analytical competencies among faculty and students.Veena M.
