The distribution of postal ballots for officials on duty for the upcoming local body elections will begin on November 26, the State Election Commission said.Eight categories of officials are eligible for the postal ballots: officials on polling duty at the polling stations; all staff of the commission engaged in election-related work on polling day; election wing officials in District Election Offices and panchayats, municipalities and Corporations; staff attached to the offices of the Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers; Election Observers, sectoral officers, officers of anti-defacement squads; and police personnel on security details during the elections.They have to apply for postal ballots on Form 15 to the Returning Officer concerned. The State Election Commission has instructed District Election Officers, District Police Chiefs, Returning officers and Assistant Returning Officers to designate election officials. They will be issued postal ballots on request. Three ballots will be issued for the three-tier panchayats and one each for municipalities and corporations.Published - November 23, 2025 08:23 pm IST
