I thought I’d get ahead of the inevitable and brace myself for my full time return to this subreddit. I love me some military history and it’s been a stupidly quiet night at work so I thought it’d be great to shed some light on the countless extraordinarily brave men who grew up on the same streets we all have and give them some well deserved notoriety so their deeds don’t fade with time. This has taken me far longer than I care to share but I have double and triple checked as best I can. Citations in the comments should you wish to read up on these fellas acts of heroism that earned them a Victoria Cross. Shoutout to John Baskeyfield whose citation I inherited after my Grandfather passed who served with him at Arnhem and had it in his possession upon his passing. This was the inspiration for this post as I know I how interesting I found it researching him. submitted by /u/LoopzUK [link] [comments]
