President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been recognised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) with the CAF President’s Outstanding Achievement Award, in honour of his contribution to the growth and support of African football. The accolade was presented on Monday during the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony in Rabat, where Kenya’s President William Ruto and Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan were also honoured. The three East African leaders were applauded for championing structural reforms in sports, investing in infrastructure and giving strong political backing to football development across the region.CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, who presented the awards, praised the trio for their “exceptional commitment to advancing football on the continent,” noting that their leadership has helped elevate Africa’s presence in the global game. Each of the presidents received a CAF Awards plaque symbolising their contribution to strengthening football institutions and supporting major continental sporting programmes. The recognition comes at a time when East Africa’s collaboration under the Pamoja initiative continues to bear fruit. Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania successfully hosted the CHAN 2024 tournament jointly and are deep into preparations for the AFCON 2027, which they will co-host — a first in the region’s football history. For President Museveni, the award highlights his role in promoting sports as a tool for youth empowerment, national unity and regional cooperation. It also acknowledges Uganda’s ongoing investment in stadium construction, football academies and grassroots development, all of which have inspired a new generation of players and fans. The honour places the three leaders at the centre of Africa’s sports transformation agenda, as the continent looks toward stronger football systems, modern facilities and greater continental integration through sport. The post Museveni Honoured With CAF President’s Outstanding Achievement Award In Morocco appeared first on The Insider.
