Samsung, the champion of OLED displays, has been in a legal battle with Chinese firm BOE for three years. The South Korean firm's display manufacturing division alleged that BOE stole its trade secrets and infringed upon its patents, and won that case. Just days ahead of the court's final verdict, Samsung has ended its quarrel with BOE to reach an out-of-court settlement.Samsung reaches a settlement with BOEA report from Yonhap News Agency claims that Samsung Display has reached a settlement with BOE over patent infringement related to OLED panels. The company has ended a three-year dispute with its Chinese rival, and the US International Trade Commission (ITC) said it has suspended the the case, as the two firms have reached an out-of-court settlement.While the two companies haven't announced anything about this, industry insiders claim that BOE has reached an agreement with Samsung Display and will pay royalties to the South Korean firm.It all started when Samsung Display filed a patent infringement lawsuit against BOE in December 2022. It also filed a trade secret violation complaint against the Chinese firm in October 2023. In July this year, the US ITC made a preliminatory ruling and banned import of BOE panels in the US for a period of 14 years and 8 months.It is likely that BOE will now be able to ship its OLED panels for mobile devices in the USA.
