Doctors initially feared she would not survive 48 hours, but Tonamol continued to show small steps of progress over the weeks that followed. But the couple’s greatest wish was to get Tonamol back home to India so she could continue treatment surrounded by her family, a move that required an air ambulance costing around €50,000.After Tom shared their story publicly, Malta responded with overwhelming kindness.A GoGetFunding campaign raised more than €74,000, surpassing the goal and covering both the medical flight and hospital expenses in India.A doctor and nurse from Malta travelled with Tonamol during the journey to ensure her safety.Last week, Tonamol was safely flown to Kerala and admitted to Rajagiri Hospital Cochin, where she has now begun neuro rehabilitation.•
