Phone thieves in the United Kingdom's capital have become quite brazen over the years. It's quite common for someone walking on the street to have their phone snatched by a thief whizzing by on an e-bike. In some cases, people end up being cornered by a group and forced to turn over their valuables. However, a new report shows how even thieves are displaying a clear preference in the phones they'd rather steal. Some even end up giving the phone back to the victims if it's a Samsung, or an Android device in general. They just want iPhones. iPhones tend to have higher resale valuesLondon Centric tells the story of a 32-year-old man who got cornered by a group of eight men in south London earlier this year. They went off with Sam's possessions, including the phone, but one of the thieves came back and handed over the phone, bluntly saying “Don't want no Samsung.”Another person, Mark, had his phone snatched from his hands by a young man on an e-bike. He went after the culprit only to see him stop in the distance, take a look at the phone, and then throw it on the ground before cycling off. It was a Samsung Galaxy device, and clearly the thief didn't find it to be worth the crime. While there's no official data to show whether iPhones or Androids are thieves' preferred devices to steal, it's becoming clearer that they prefer iPhones. It's understandable, since iPhones tend to have higher values in the secondary market. Android devices, including Samsung's Galaxy phones, tend to have lower resale values. Thieves will be getting pennies on the dollar for stolen phones anyway, so they'd obviously prioritize iPhones that net them more cash.Even as the authorities take their time to tackle the issue of rising phone thefts in London, perhaps the best course of action for people to protect themselves against these criminals is to buy a Samsung phone. The post London phone thieves return Samsung phones as they prefer iPhones appeared first on SamMobile.
