The Bengaluru City Central Corporation officials on Wednesday shut down Mantri Mall for accumulating ₹30 crore in property tax arrears, said corporation commissioner Rajendra Cholan P.According to officials, the mall authorities did not respond to the notices issued to them, prompting the corporation to take action in accordance with guidelines on non-compliance with property tax rules.Mr. Cholan added that they have launched a drive and identified multiple such violators, and action would be taken against them. “The Central Corporation has many commercial establishments and several have pending tax payments. We are following up on those establishments,” he said.He noted that many establishments conduct self-assessment and provide false information. To identify all such establishments, 22 teams have been formed, which have inspected 182 buildings so far.
