Mandya district has reported 174 suspected cases of fever with rashes, out of which seven cases of measles and two cases of rubella have been confirmed. The district has also recorded 12 cases of Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) this year, according to Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kumar.Presiding over the District Task Force Committee meeting on the progress of the Universal Immunisation Programme and measles-rubella elimination at his office on Monday, Dr. Kumar stressed the need to create public awareness on preventing and controlling measles and rubella. He called for coordinated efforts among all concerned departments.He announced that the Pulse Polio immunisation drive will be launched on December 21.Dr. Kumar informed that 11,520 children were fully vaccinated against measles and rubella between April and October this year, achieving 111.2% coverage. A total of 11,580 children received the first dose, and 11,520 received the second dose of the measles-rubella vaccine during the period.However, he noted that a larger number of children in Mandya and Nagamangala were yet to receive the second dose. Officials were instructed to ensure complete coverage at the earliest.Reproductive and Child Health Officer Dr. K.P.
