In a 13-hour period between Saturday night and Sunday morning, Walt Disney World Resort was targeted by at least two attackers in an unexpected crime wave at The Most Magical Place on Earth. These incidents follow the recent spotlight on the Central Florida Disney park after at least five guests died in a 26-day period between October and November.Tragedies at The Most Magical Place on EarthInternational eyes were on Walt Disney World Resort in mid-October when rumors began to circulate of a person-Monorail collision at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Guests were rushed away from part of the lobby, and it took days before the real facts surrounding the incident were made public.Authorities eventually revealed that the Monorail did not collide with a guest at Walt Disney World Resort. However, a 31-year-old “Disney superfan” from Illinois had died by suicide after falling from an internal balcony in the lobby at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The woman was eventually identified as Summer Equitz, who had been reported missing by her family after booking a last-minute solo flight to Central Florida.Credit: DisneyWeeks later, a 28-year-old man died by suicide after falling from an exterior balcony at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The man was eventually identified as Matthew Cohn, who had checked into his 12th-floor room the night before and paid in cash. Videos spread online as Disney cast members reportedly warned guests not to look out their rear-facing windows and blocked an area near the pool with towel carts, a white tent, and other hotel materials. In the same 26-day span, three guests died of natural causes at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Spa, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. Authorities haven’t identified these Walt Disney World Resort guests, but confirmed that foul play was not suspected in any of the incidents.13-Hour Crime Wave at Disney WorldCredit: DisneyMany Disney Parks fans are understandably shaken by the recent tragedies at Walt Disney World Resort, which made the incidents that occurred late Saturday night and early Sunday morning all the more disturbing.
