President Donald Trump talked about bombing Mexico and Colombia while he was meeting with the head of FIFA on Monday at the White House. The meeting was supposed to be about getting ready for the 2026 World Cup, which America will host together with Mexico and Canada. According to Unilad, reporters asked Trump if he would attack Mexico to fight drug dealers, and he quickly said yes. “Would I launch strikes in Mexico to stop drugs? It’s OK with me. Whatever we have to do to stop drugs,” Trump told the reporters in the Oval Office. He mentioned that he had been thinking about Mexico City over the weekend and believed there were big issues there that needed fixing. Then Trump started talking about Colombia and said he was ready to use military force there too. “Colombia has cocaine factories where they make cocaine. Would I knock out those factories? I would be proud to do it personally. I didn’t say I’m doing it, I would be proud to do it,” he said. So this is what happens when soccer meets foreign policy Trump made these comments about possible attacks during a meeting that was just supposed to be about World Cup planning. He was sitting down with Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President, to talk about a new visa program called FIFA Pass that would help people with World Cup tickets get their visa appointments faster. But instead of focusing on soccer, the conversation ended up being about military operations in Latin America. What Trump said was very different from what Secretary of State Marco Rubio said just last week. Rubio made it clear that America would not send troops into Mexico on its own. He talked about how the two countries were working together better than ever and stressed that the US wouldn’t send American soldiers into Mexico unless Mexico agreed to it first. Trump just said he would bomb Mexico City to stop drugs from coming into the US.He’s talking about dropping explosives on a city of 22.7 million human beings like it’s some cheap action-movie plot. This isn’t “tough on crime.” It’s deranged, blood-soaked nonsense from a guy…— P a u l ◉ (@SkylineReport) November 17, 2025 Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum has said many times that the US cannot take military action in her country without getting her approval first. She’s also denied earlier news reports that claimed America had started making detailed plans for a new mission against drug cartels in Mexico that would include sending troops and intelligence officers. The president has shown a pattern of threatening to declare national emergencies to achieve his political goals. Another drug boat headed for America, loaded with enough drugs to kill 25-50,000 people, was blown up by the U.S. military early this morning off the coast of Venezuela. The American people voted for this. WINNING! pic.twitter.com/sKeMDBjPHu— Rochellemaryn (@RochelleAz) October 3, 2025 Trump’s government has already been attacking boats in the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean that they say are carrying drugs. Since September, the US has hit at least 20 boats they claim were drug vessels, and more than 80 people have died in these attacks. But the government hasn’t shown any public proof that these boats actually had drugs on them or that the people who died were really involved in drug trafficking. These boat attacks have made several Latin American leaders angry, and there are uncertainties over whether they’re even legal. Back in October, the US put sanctions on Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro after Trump accused him of not doing enough to stop cocaine from getting into the country.
