DGP warns of strict action against corrupt policemen

Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy on Wednesday commended the Anti Corruption Bureau for arresting a sub-inspector from Tekmal in Medak district on charges of accepting bribes, calling the action a necessary reminder that corruption within the force will not be tolerated.The DGP praised ACB Director General Charu Sinha and the bureau’s staff for acting promptly against the SI, whose arrest sparked celebrations in the locality, with residents bursting firecrackers. He said the public reaction made it clear that people have little patience for corrupt policing and expect integrity, order and accountability from those in uniform.He added that the incident had damaged the public’s trust in the police and urged all officers to undertake a self-review of their conduct.
