Miles had intended to make small talk about the investigation into the pick-pocketing ring. He expected nothing since only a few hours had passed, but that wasn’t the case. He heard something unbelievable. Truly, and hopefully, unbelievable.“I must have misheard you. Could you say that again?” Miles asked as they stopped not far from Ren’s dorm.“There’s a chance this might involve other races,” Mance repeated. “The detective in charge thinks it’s very slim, but he also mentioned it wasn’t out of the question.”Miles shook his head, still not sure why this detective thought races other than humans might be involved. He had always known they existed, though he had no direct interaction with any. Each race had its own world, and crossing into another was difficult and time-consuming. The other races’ worlds were toxic to humans, just like Earth was toxic to them. However, around one hundred and fifty years ago, the demons attacked Thornwell, a city in the northern region. Since then, it’s been silent.”Miles was taken aback. Demons as a race weren’t stronger than humans.
