The United Nations Security Council passed a big plan for Gaza. Thirteen countries voted yes, and nobody voted no. Russia and China did not vote yes, but they also did not block the plan. The plan backs President Donald Trump’s ideas for bringing peace to Gaza and lets countries send troops there to help. According to Unilad, the plan creates a group called the Board of Peace that will run Gaza for now. Trump will be the leader of this group. There will also be soldiers from different countries who will go to Gaza to keep things safe. All of this will continue until the end of 2027. US Ambassador Mike Waltz talked to the Security Council before everyone voted. “This resolution charts a path for Palestinian self-determination after the Palestinian Authority completes key reforms,” Waltz said. “It dismantles Hamas’s grip and ensures Gaza rises free from terror’s shadow — prosperous and secure,” he added. Trump’s new role in Gaza is raising some eyebrows The Board of Peace will do several things in Gaza. It will make sure food and medicine get to people who need help. The group will also watch over the work to rebuild homes and buildings that got destroyed. Trump said he will tell everyone who else will be on the board in a few weeks. The soldiers who go to Gaza will try to take weapons away from Hamas and shut down their operations. Most of these troops will come from countries like Indonesia and Azerbaijan where most people are Muslim. The US wants the first soldiers to arrive in Gaza around January 2026. #BREAKING UN Security Council ADOPTS resolution authorizing a Board of Peace and an International Stabilization Force in #Gaza, as outlined in a United States “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict”. A team of Palestinian workers will run things like schools and hospitals every day. But this can only happen after the Palestinian Authority makes some big changes that the plan asks for. Lots of countries liked the plan, including Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan. They all put out a statement together asking the Security Council to say yes. But Hamas said no to the plan because they think it does not give Palestinians what they need. Once the UN gave the green light, Donald Trump jumped on Truth Social to share his reaction. “Congratulations to the World on the incredible Vote of the United Nations Security Council, just moments ago, acknowledging and endorsing the BOARD OF PEACE, which will be chaired by me, and include the most powerful and respected Leaders throughout the World,” he wrote. The plan talks about how Palestinians might get their own country someday. But it does not say when this would happen or promise that it definitely will. It only says this might be possible after Gaza gets rebuilt and the Palestinian Authority changes how it works. The war has gotten attention from many well known people who have shared their thoughts about what is happening.
