We spoke so much together about the World Cup.“When he missed out in Qatar because of injury, and I missed out because Scotland never went.“We always discussed what it would be like going to this World Cup. I know he’ll be somewhere smiling over me tonight.“I just couldn’t get him out of my head the whole day, I was in a bit of trouble in my room earlier [but] I hid it well from the boys.”Jota tragically passed away aged 28 alongside his brother Andre Silva in July from a car crash in Spain.GettyRobertson said he ‘couldn’t get him out of my head’ as he spoke about Jota at full-time[/caption]The Portuguese forward was a teammate of Robertson’s for five years at Anfield and the pair won the Premier League together last season.They made a total of 129 appearances together for the Reds as they formed a strong friendship off the pitch.Robertson was one of several stars to be overcome with emotion on his return to action after Jota’s death.The touching scenes came after a pre-season friendly against Preston in the summer as the players applauded the Liverpool fans, who belted out Jota’s chant.Scotland qualify for World CupRobertson and his Scotland teammates are now celebrating reaching their first World Cup since 1998.Goals from Scott McTominay, Lawrence Shankland, Kieran Tierney and Kenny McLean saw them past Denmark in their final qualifier.GettyScotland have qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1998[/caption]The win was enough to leapfrog their opponents into top spot in their group and avoid March’s play-offs.Instead, Scotland will discover their group stage opponents when the draw is made on December 5.It is their third major tournament in four attempts after reaching the finals of Euro 2020 and 2024.However, they have failed to advance beyond the group stage at any of their previous eight World Cup appearances.
