Banas Dairy Chairman Shankar Chaudhary received the award from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Tuesday. Banas Dairy, claimed to be Asia’s largest dairy, is awarded in the category of ‘Best Industrial Unit’ for its campaign for water conservation for adopting the idea of ‘Janbhagidari’ (public participation) under ‘Sahakhar se Samriddhi’ (prosperity through cooperation).Banas Dairy completed construction of more than 325 new lakes and more than 30,000 percolating wells in Banaskantha district. Apart from this, it has also installed plants for water reuse in the dairy plant. Dedicating the award to lakhs of farmers and cattle rearers of Banaskantha, Chaudhary, who is also the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Speaker, said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign has been successfully implemented through Banas Dairy and public participation.Banas Dairy is not only committed to milk production but also to environment and water security.
