TikTok sleuth finds mysterious Neuralink patient seemingly scrubbed from public records. Turns out he’s not doing well

Elon Musk’s controversial Neuralink trials have received a mixed reception since the first patient made the bold decision to have one of the chips implanted in his brain. While the patients that we know of have had no serious side-effects so far, one TikTok sleuth has dived into the little information we have on the experiments thus far and she’s found something rather disturbing. A TikToker by the name of Drey has been looking into Musk’s Neuralink trials for quite some time and has been sharing her findings over on her Substack: The Drey Dossier. Her most recent findings pertain to a mysterious “Patient 4,” who she claims is a man by the name of Mike Melgarejo. The Neuralink patients and their social media presence Drey explains that neuralink has been pretty bad at disclosing information about patients undergoing these risky clinical trials. Almost all of the patients do have X accounts that all seem to have been creating around the time of each patient’s surgery.  The account handles also feature numbers relating to the patient number, for example “@pairedwith_P7” is patient 7, “@telepath_8” is patient 8. These accounts share positive updates about their experience with Neuralink as well as praising Musk and sharing things that relate to the soon-to-be trillionaire. @thedreydossier why is elon’s baby mama here #medicaltiktok #neuralink #fda ♬ original sound – Drey However, Patient 4, AKA Mike, does not seem to have any social media presence. Googling for information about the supposed fourth patient also brings up practically no information on him which straight away seems a little suspicious. Footage of Mike has been shown by Neuralink, he was present in the funding update according to Drey so it seems like he does exist. What happened to Mike Melgarejo? After doing a little more digging, Drey discovered that there was a GoFundMe which had been set up for Mike on June 24, 2025, four months after he supposedly had the Neuralink chip implanted. The person who created the page claimed that Mike was “ready to give up on life” and was not in a good place financially. But it gets more concerning. Drey also discovered that the person behind the GoFundMe allegedly worked for one of the biggest insurance brokers in the world. They handle corporate liability for major companies including medical device manufacturers. So could this be a way of quietly paying a patient without publicly acknowledging anything is wrong? Who’s to say? Drey also find one donation of $3,000 which had apparently been made by Shivon Zilis, the director of operations and special projects at Neuralink and mother to four of Elon’s children. Naturally Drey questions the legality of Zilis contributing to a patient’s crisis fund – why can’t they pay Mike through the trial? This raises the question as to whether Mike’s mental state has even been reported to the FDA. Whether or not it’s related to the Neuralink it would have to be disclosed in some way. Drey concludes that either way Musk and Neuralink have a duty of care for Mike and should be compensating him for the contributions he’s making to science. Her video goes into much more detail on the case and it’s highly worth watching the whole thing.
