PM Shehbaz meets US-based Sikh community leader Jasdeep Singh

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday met Jasdeep Singh, president of a Sikh community organisation based in the United States. Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Pakistani-American businessman Sajid Tarar were also present during the meeting, ARY News reported.Welcoming Jasdeep Singh to Pakistan, the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the country is home to several sacred sites deeply revered by the Sikh faith. He noted that thousands of Sikhs from across the world travel to Pakistan every year to perform their religious rituals.PM Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the best possible facilities for Sikh pilgrims, saying Pakistan takes pride in hosting the community with warmth and respect. He added that the upkeep of gurdwaras and the provision of related services remain a priority.The prime minister said the government will also draw up a strategy focused on the welfare of the Sikh community living in Pakistan. He further highlighted the valuable role played by overseas Pakistanis in the country’s development.Jasdeep Singh thanked the prime minister and the government for the hospitality extended to Sikh pilgrims and appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to maintain holy sites.Sikhs for Justice Announces Support for PakistanEarlier, during the 556th birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a pro-Khalistan group in the US, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), announced that they will defend Pakistan if India attacks.The Sikh organization has announced its vital support to Pakistan from New York, saying Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji was an embodiment of truth and justice.The voice echoed from New York said that if India conducts an unprovoked escalation against its neighbour, Pakistan, they will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Pakistan.The Sikhs of Khalistan will defend the sovereignty of Pakistan and its people. Sikhs for Justice said that Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings are a reflection of resistance and defending human dignity.
