A detailed notice will be out soon. The Railway Recruitment Boards’ Group D recruitment (CEN No. 08/2024) has moved through a long sequence of administrative steps, legal hurdles, and last-minute changes, finally resulting in a postponement of the exam originally scheduled for November – December 2025.Over 1.08 crore candidates awaiting clarity, the timeline of events offers a clear picture of how the process unfolded and what was pending. The RRB Group D application and modification phases were completed in early 2025 without any disruption. In August, the RRBs issued the first major update – announcing a tentative computer-based test (CBT) schedule. It said that the exams will be conducted between November 17 and the end of December 2025. However, exam preparations soon came to a halt due to a legal challenge related to eligibility criteria, first taken up in the Delhi High Court and later transferred to the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).Throughout this period, the High Court’s stay order prevented RRBs from moving forward with any exam-related activities. This uncertainty continued for months and became the largest bottleneck in the recruitment calendar. Finally, on November 12, 2025, the CAT dismissed the petition, affirming that both Class 10th-pass and ITI-qualified candidates remain eligible for the Level-1 posts. The ruling lifted all legal barriers and gave RRBs a clear path to conduct the exam. However, the delay caused by the litigation meant that the originally planned November – December schedule was no longer feasible. As of mid-November, no admit cards or city intimation slips have been released.Story continues below this adDateEventJan 23, 2025Online applications open for CEN No. 08/2024Feb 22, 2025Application window closesFeb 24, 2025Last date for fee paymentFeb 25 – Mar 6, 2025Application modification/correction windowAug 9, 2025Notice released with tentative CBT schedule (17 Nov – end Dec 2025)Up to Nov 2025Delhi High Court stay order; case moved to CAT; exam activities pausedNov 12, 2025CAT dismisses petition; eligibility upheld; legal clearance grantedNov 14–16, 2025Updates suggest exam may shift to Dec 2025 or Jan 2026November 27New exam date; admit cards to release ~4 days before exam; city intimation ~10 days priorRRBs is likely to release a revised exam schedule today.
