Nationalist MP Ryan Callus has revealed that he will not be contesting the forthcoming general election, bringing an end to a parliamentary career that began in 2013. Before entering Parliament, Callus served as deputy mayor of Siġġiewi, his hometown. An engineer by profession and a licensed private pilot, Callus has been elected from two districts in the last election and has served as shadow minister for energy, planning, lands, and infrastructure. Among his proudest achievements, he highlighted the publication of a 30-year strategy for Malta’s energy sector, which he described as one of the most satisfying moments of his career.Last June, during discussions around Roberta Metsola’s potential PN leadership bid, Callus had even offered to give up his seat for the next PN leader if they were not already an MP.In a heartfelt Facebook post, Callus said the decision to step back was “difficult” but made to allow more time for his young family. He stressed, however, that he would continue to support the PN and its leader, Alex Borg, who he said is giving new hope to the people of Malta and Gozo.Callus also took the opportunity to thank everyone who supported him over the years, writing that he is grateful to all those who helped him throughout his political journey and entrusted him with their vote.Photo credits to Ryan Callus on Facebook•
