(Credit: Instagram/@upasanakaminenikonidela)After her call for women to “freeze their eggs” so they can focus on their careers and not rush into marriage sparked controversy, entrepreneur Upasana Kamineni Konidela has stepped forward to address the criticisms and emphasise her point more vehemently. While some claimed that she was trying to boost the business of her family-run Apollo Hospitals’ fertility clinics and IVF treatment, Upasana retorted, stating that she underwent the procedure elsewhere, indicating that she was just trying to discuss the benefits of the process.Taking to social media, she penned a lengthy note and offered her perspective on both oocyte cryopreservation and the backlash she received for recommending it. Interestingly, she commenced her note by asking a few rhetorical questions: “Is it wrong for a woman to marry for love instead of giving in to societal pressure? Is it wrong for her to wait until she finds the right partner? Is it wrong for a woman to choose when she wants to have children based on her own circumstances? Is it wrong for a woman to set her goals and focus on her career rather than only thinking of marriage or having children early?”I’m happy to have sparked a healthy debate & thank your for your respectful responses.Stay tuned as I voice my opinions on the pleasures/pressures of privilege – that u all have been talking about.Don’t forget to check out my images ! I welcomed my first child at 36 and am now expecting twins at 39,” she pointed out.Upasana added, “Throughout my journey, I have given equal importance to building my career and nurturing my marriage, because a happy, stable environment matters deeply when raising a family.
