Employees at the Biblical Zoo in Jerusalem were very excited to celebrate the hatching of a black-footed penguin chick - a species in serious danger of extinction. This hatching comes at a very symbolic time, in the shadow of many reports from around the world about an 80% decline in the population of this penguin in the last 30 years.The new chick, named Ofek, is currently 37 cm tall and weighs only 1 kg. In the future, it could reach up to 70 cm, and weigh between two and five kg.
