(Photo: Varun Dhawan, Instagram)Border 2, whose trailer was recently launched, is set to hit theatres next week. Naturally, the film’s promotional activities are in full swing. Recently, the song “Ghar Kab Aaoge” was launched at Longewala in Jaisalmer, in the presence of BSF jawans, adding a patriotic touch to the campaign. Such events have been organised across locations to amplify the buzz around the film, with the lead cast, Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty, travelling extensively to promote it. However, the promotions recently trade analyst Taran Adarsh, during a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, appeared to criticise Varun Dhawan for allegedly trying to take the spotlight away from Sunny Deol during the film’s promotions. While Adarsh did not explicitly name the film or the actors involved, the phrasing of his opinion, and Reddit users, where the clip has gone viral, very much suggests that he was referring to Border 2 and its lead actors. In the clip, Adarsh is heard saying: “When a film is about to be released, some actors or actresses start promoting only themselves. They push their own songs or do certain things, whereas the poster boy of the film is someone else.” Elaborating further, without naming the film, he added: “I am referring to an upcoming film. I was quite shocked to see a young actor doing this, which is completely unnecessary, especially when the film features a very well-known actor. The entire film rests on his shoulders, shoulders that are strong, and hands that are equally powerful.”Taran Adarsh calls out Varun Dhawan for Promoting Border2 as his film, when in reality it is being pulled by Sunny Deol's Star Powerbyu/Shot-Aside3066 inBollyBlindsNGossip Also Read | ‘Ikkis and Dhurandhar should co-exist in a democracy’: Ikkis writers on facing trolls, working with DharmendraThe comment was widely interpreted as a reference to Sunny Deol, known for his iconic on-screen persona and the famous “dhai kilo ka haath” imagery associated with him. However, Reddit users were largely critical of Adarsh’s viewpoint. One user wrote, “This is hating for no reason. What does he want Varun to do? Only upload pictures and clips of Sunny Deol? Firstly, it’s his account and his fans follow him. They obviously want to see Varun, not Sunny. Secondly, why wouldn’t he promote himself? It’s his film too.” Another user added, “This is such a petty thing to call out. He’s part of the film and is being paid for it, it’s his film as well. What’s wrong with saying that? Even if it were a lesser-known actor, it would still be valid.”Varun Dhawan Getting Trolled OnlineMeanwhile, Varun Dhawan has also been facing online criticism in recent days for his smiling expressions on social media after the song “Ghar Kab Aaoge” was released. Taking the trolling in stride, the actor chose to respond with humour. On Wednesday, Varun went live on Instagram while travelling to the Karwar Naval Base for film promotions. After greeting his fans, he turned to singer Vishal Mishra, who was accompanying him, and said: “I know my smile is trending.” He then recreated his signature smile, prompting both of them to burst into laughter.Varun’s comment section has also been filled with criticism lately. Recently, he addressed a troll in his characteristic style when a user asked, “People are questioning your acting skills. What would you like to say to them?” Varun responded: “This question made the song go viral. Everyone is having a good time. God is great.”Click here to follow Screen Digital on YouTube and stay updated with the latest from the world of cinema.© IE Online Media Services Pvt LtdTags:Sunny Deolvarun dhawan
