By: Express News ServiceJanuary 15, 2026 01:21 PM IST 2 min readSix people from the same family, including three children, were killed after a suspected LPG cylinder explosion triggered a fire in Sirmaur district.Six people in Himachal Pradesh, including three children, were reportedly killed in a major fire that broke out at a house in Sirmaur district on Wednesday night.Though the exact cause behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, preliminary reports suggest that the fire broke out following an LPG cylinder blast.The victims identified as Naresh Kumar, 50, his wife Tripta Devi, 44, her sister Kavita, 36, and her three children – Kritika, 13, Sarika, 13, and Kartik, 3, had come to observe the Maghi festival of Makar Sankranti at their maternal house in Talangana village under Ghanduri panchayat.Authorities said that Kavita’s husband, Lokender Kumar, was rescued from the house on fire. Two cows and one calf were also burnt alive.Fire brigade and police teams promptly arrived at the scene after being alerted. In his statement to the police, Lokender explained that he and his family had come to his in-laws’ house in Talangana to celebrate the Maghi festival. His sister-in-law and her husband were also present for the occasion. “After having dinner together on Wednesday night, the family went to sleep around 11 pm. Around 3 am, smoke suddenly filled the room, followed by a loud explosion from the kitchen.
