“One of the worst espionage cases yet” – Israeli soldier arrested after allegedly transferring information on IDF bases and weapons to Iranian intelligence.By David Rosenberg, World Israel NewsAn Israeli soldier serving in a combat unit has been accused of spying on behalf of Iran, transferring information regarding IDF facilities, weapons, and ammunition to Iranian intelligence. The soldier has been identified as an infantryman serving in the Givati Brigade for his mandatory army service. The suspect was drafted a little over a year ago, and was arrested roughly four months ago, in late September. He has been held in custody since his arrest.Israel’s military censor has placed a sweeping gag order on the case, barring publication of the suspect’s name, age, place of residence, and of the details regarding his espionage on behalf of Iran. The soldier is facing a joint investigation being conducted by the Shin Bet security agency, the Israel Police, and the Military Police Criminal Investigations Division (MPCID), with the accompaniment of the Ministry of Defense.Authorities believe the soldier was recruited by Iranian intelligence operatives in July 2025.Under the direction of his handlers, the soldier allegedly carried out a series of security-related tasks in exchange for payments.Among other things, the suspect took photographs and videos of sensitive sites in Israel and sent them to his handlers. The surveillance activity included IDF bases, while the soldier also provided information on military hardware, types of weapons used by the IDF, and ammunition used by Israeli soldiers.Army prosecutors have filed an indictment against the soldier, charging him with contact with a foreign agent, passing on information to a hostile power, impersonating another person, and obstruction of justice.A security official told i24News that the security breach was one of the worst spy cases, following a string of other incidents of espionage involving Iran.“This is one of the most serious espionage cases investigated to date.”The post IDF combat soldier suspected of selling military secrets to Iran appeared first on World Israel News.
