Subscribe to our free daily WealthManagement newsletters.JPMorgan Chase is once again seeking to have the courts intervene to prevent a former advisor from allegedly breaching his employment contract by soliciting former clients after he joined LPL Financial.According to the complaint, Kevin Sercia has solicited over 30 households with approximately $22 million in assets from JPMorgan, which has filed a request for a temporary restraining order in Florida federal court.JPMorgan was also incensed when Serica started working in a building “literally across the parking lot” from his former branch in Stuart, Fla., after he resigned. According to FINRA records, Sercia registered in 2016 with Stifel, followed by stints at Merrill Lynch and LPL Financial (where he would eventually return) before joining JPMorgan in August 2020. JPMorgan claimed he operated out of bank branches as a private client advisor, working with existing bank clients. As part of joining the firm, Sercia allegedly signed a non-solicitation agreement, which barred him from soliciting JPMorgan clients for 12 months following the end of his employment there.JPMorgan claimed that in the hours before Sercia resigned from the firm, the advisor accessed about 175 client profiles on JPMorgan’s Advisor Central System after business hours, often only one to two minutes apart. In the complaint, attorneys for the bank speculated that Sercia accessed the profiles in order to contact clients when he moved to his new firm. Since he left JPMorgan on Dec. 3, 2025, JPMorgan claimed Sercia had reached out to JPMorgan clients, including calling them on personal cell phone numbers and asking them to move their assets to LPL (the firm did not respond to a request for comment as of press time).Additionally, after Sercia resigned, he allegedly began working across the street, operating under the name “Lighthouse Private Wealth” while still affiliated with LPL. Lighthouse Private Wealth was formed last fall as an LPL-affiliated firm by a pair of former RBC reps. JPMorgan claimed that two signs were “strategically placed” outside the JPMorgan branch office, with Sercia’s name, phone number and office location on them.“Thus, every time a JPMorgan customer comes into the branch or drives into the parking lot, they are exposed to these signs,” the complaint read.JPMorgan frequently brings former advisors to court, seeking temporary restraining orders to stop alleged attempts by former employees to solicit clients in violation of their employment contracts with the firm.
