(Source: File)The Chandigarh Police Saturday arrested two teenagers, Krish and Aryan, in connection with the daylight stabbing of 25-year-old Sumit, alias Golu, on the Sector 25/38 dividing road in Sector 38 a day earlier.As per the police, the murder, which occurred in full public view, was the result of a long-standing personal enmity between the accused and the victim’s family.According to the complaint filed by the deceased’s brother, Mandeep, the dispute dates back nearly a year when the accused allegedly misbehaved with their mother in Dadu Majra Colony, tore her clothes and assaulted her.An FIR was registered in that case, after which Krish and Honey allegedly started threatening and attacking family members repeatedly.On the day of the incident, Sumit and Mandeep had gone to the Sector 43 district courts for a hearing related to another case. After the hearing, Sumit left for Dadu Majra on his grey scooter, while Mandeep followed him up to a short distance in an auto-rickshaw.When Sumit stopped at a petrol pump in Sector 37 to refuel, the accused reached there on a Bullet motorcycle (CH01CA8562). Krish was riding the motorcycle while Honey was seated pillion. The accused allegedly tried to attack Sumit with knives at the petrol pump, but he managed to escape. They chased him and near the gate of the Prayaas Building in Sector 38, rammed their motorcycle into his scooter, causing him to fall on the road.As Sumit tried to flee, Honey allegedly caught hold of him from behind while Krish reportedly stabbed him in the chest with a knife, intending to kill him. Sumit collapsed on the road, bleeding profusely.Story continues below this adMandeep rushed to the spot to save his brother but the accused allegedly threatened him with the knife, claiming they had killed Sumit and would kill him next. They then fled on their motorcycle.With the help of passersby, Sumit was rushed to PGIMER in an auto-rickshaw, where doctors declared him brought dead.Police said a team from Sector 40 police station reached the spot and found a scooter (CH01CB3178) lying on the road with bloodstains around it.Based on Mandeep’s statement, a murder case was registered and a manhunt launched. Both accused — Krish and Aryan, both residents of Dadumajra Colony — were later arrested.Story continues below this adPolice said the role of other family members or associates is being verified.
