By: Express News ServiceNew Delhi | January 18, 2026 02:03 AM IST 2 min readFARIDABAD-based real estate firm SRS Group’s promoter-directors Jitender Kumar Garg and Sunil Jindal have been declared fugitive economic offenders (FEOs) by a special court in Gurugram in connection with the ED investigation against the firm, which has been accused of cheating investors and banks to the tune of Rs 2,200 crore, said agency officials.The order, dated January 15, follows an application by the ED’s Gurugram Zonal Office seeking FEO status for Garg, Jindal, and Praveen Kumar Kapoor, another SRS director.“Sunil Jindal and Jitender Kumar Garg have failed to appear in this court despite due service of summons as envisaged under Section 10 of the Fugitive Act, therefore… (they) are hereby declared as Fugitive Economic Offenders under Section 12(1) of the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018, as contemplated by Section 2(1) (f)(i) and (ii) of the Act,” said Vani Gopal Sharma, Special Judge (under PMLA cum-Sessions Judge) Gurugram. While Kapoor was deported to India on November 1, 2025, following a Red Corner Notice issued by Interpol at the ED’s behest, Garg and Jindal remain absconding in Georgia and Dubai, UAE, respectively.The ED investigation was initiated on the basis of 81 FIRs filed by Haryana Police, Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing and the CBI against SRS directors, including Anil Jindal, for allegedly defrauding investors and banks of approximately Rs 2,200 crore.The group promised high returns on investments but allegedly cheated the public, leading to money laundering charges.A prosecution complaint was filed in 2022, with ED attaching assets worth Rs 2,215.98 crore identified as proceeds of crime. The firm directors fled India, evading non-bailable warrants, Look Out Circulars and Red Corner Notices. They were declared proclaimed offenders by the special court on June 6, 2025.With the FEO declaration for Garg and Jindal now complete, the ED has initiated proceedings for confiscation of their properties under FEOA, which allows the government to seize assets of economic offenders who flee to avoid prosecution, an official said. © The Indian Express Pvt LtdTags:FaridabadNew Delhi
