The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has officially presented the 2026 FIFA badges to six match officials, marking a period of sustained growth and a historic first for the Member Association. In a ceremony held at the GFF Secretariat in Georgetown, the federation honoured the six individuals who have met the stringent criteria required to represent Guyana on the global stage. The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including GFF Vice President Dion Inniss, General Secretary Pushpargha Chattopadhyay, and CONCACAF Technical Instructor Natasha Lewis. The 2026 list reflects FIFA’s commitment to diversity and to expanding the game across all disciplines, including Futsal and the Women’s game. The 2026 FIFA International Match Officials (Guyana)Referee: Shavin GreeneAssistant Referees: Kleon Lindey, Brandon CyrusFemale Referee: Kenisha Prescott (First-time appointment)Female Assistant Referee: Denisha IsaacsFutsal Referee: Colin AbelHighlighting the GFF’s investment in the female refereeing pathway, Kenisha Prescott joins the FIFA International List for the first time. Prescott’s appointment is the culmination of a rapid ascent through the FIFA and CONCACAF development ecosystem.Following a standout performance at the 2023 CFU Girls’ Challenge Series, she was selected for the CONCACAF Referee Academy in Toluca, Mexico. Her 2025 resume includes high-stakes assignments at the CONCACAF U-15 Girls’ Championship and the CFU U-14 Girls’ Challenge Series.Meanwhile, Denisha Isaacs continues her trailblazing career with a fourth consecutive appointment. Isaacs achieved a significant milestone in December 2025, officiating a senior men’s international fixture—a testament to FIFA’s “refereeing without borders” philosophy. The 2026 list also recognises the remarkable consistency of Kleon Lindey, who celebrates 12 consecutive years as a FIFA Assistant Referee. This rare feat of longevity underscores the professional standards maintained within the Guyanese refereeing fraternity. In the centre, Shavin Greene enters his fourth year on the list with a promotion to CONCACAF Tier 2 status. Greene’s 2025 season was one of the busiest in the region’s history, featuring a FIFA World Cup Qualifier and the CONCACAF Caribbean Cup Final. The representation extends to the court, where Futsal specialist Colin Abel continues to elevate the profile of the small-sided game. Since joining the FIFA list in 2023, Abel has become a fixture in major continental tournaments, most recently officiating the semifinals of the CONCACAF Women’s Futsal World Cup Qualifiers.“The GFF remains dedicated to the ‘FIFA Forward’ philosophy of improving the quality of the game at every level,” noted the Federation during the presentation.“These badges represent not just an individual achievement, but the success of our structural reforms in referee education and fitness standards.”As these six officials prepare for the 2026 international calendar, the focus remains on the “Elite” pathway, ensuring that Guyanese match officials remain central to the story of football in the Caribbean and beyond.
