The clip sparked a wave of discussion and even criticism, as the song holds a deeply nostalgic place for the 90s kids. Many fans still vividly remember the moment Salman Khan made his unforgettable entry in a black suit. Today, no wedding celebration seems complete without this song playing. Recently, filmmaker Karan Johar shared an anecdote from the making of the song, revealing that he actually cried on set because Salman was initially reluctant to wear the now-iconic black suit.Speaking on Manyavar’s YouTube channel, Karan recalled, “It was my first time working with Salman Khan, so I was very… what should I say? I was quite wound up because he was such a big star. It was his first day on set, and I walked into his van. He was in a T-shirt and jeans. I said, ‘Salman, you know it’s a big set.’ And he said, ‘Yes, but if for the first time a groom comes in jeans and a T-shirt, it will be a new style. I’ll bring the swag.’ I got so hyped. I said, ‘But the set is so ornate. Kajal has such an intricate lehenga.’”He further recounted how he became increasingly nervous. “I thought, ‘If he comes in jeans and a T-shirt, what will happen?’ But he reassured me, ‘I’ll pull it off.’ I got so stressed that I started crying in front of him. He looked so nervous seeing me crying in his vanity van, and finally, he agreed, ‘No, no, I’ll wear the suit.’ And then we shot my first-ever Sangeet song sequence.”Also Read | In a post-Dhurandhar world, Sriram Raghavan stages an anti-war rebellion with IkkisIn an earlier conversation with Manyavar, Karan shared another anecdote from his time as an assistant director on Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, involving a high-stakes wardrobe purchase. He explained how he, director Aditya Chopra, and fellow assistant Uday Chopra secretly pooled their money to buy an expensive Harley-Davidson jacket without informing producer and veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra of its actual cost.“It was a 300-pound jacket in 1994, and now you can imagine how expensive it would be today,” Karan said. Recalling Yash Chopra’s reaction, or rather, lack of it, he added, “He didn’t say anything because we told him it cost 50 pounds. We had all decided to lie and contributed everything we had to buy it. Otherwise, it would have been very difficult to explain that SRK was going to wear it throughout the film. And look at the impact it had.”Click here to follow Screen Digital on YouTube and stay updated with the latest from the world of cinema.© IE Online Media Services Pvt Ltd
