Even if it wasn't a good fit for the ducks' owner, they could have been much kinder and more appreciative in their responses, seeing as someone was going out of their way to try to help. Also, given that people who have certain types of pets usually tend to know others with the same (like my dad, who raises pigeons for decades, so knows many others in the area who are also enthusiasts). So OOP should have been a bit nicer... even if OP couldn't accommodate, they might have known others who could, or at least helped spread the word.
