Malta woke up to ice covered roads after violent hailstorms hit overnight.Civil Protection Malta has warned the public to exercise extra caution on the roads following reports of heavy hail across the island.Western areas were hit hardest particularly Rabat and Baħrija where sudden hailstorms turned roads white and dangerously slippery. Heavy thunderstorms gusty winds and hail are expected to affect parts of the Maltese Islands during the morning.Motorists are being advised to slow down avoid unnecessary travel where possible and stay alert as conditions can change rapidly.Looking ahead strong winds are forecast early next week with near gale to gale force conditions possible on Monday and Tuesday with winds reaching Force 8.Stay safe, slow down and keep an eye on official updates because Malta’s weather is clearly not in the mood to play nice.•
