Over 25,000 people would benefit from this initiative, officials said on Saturday.Celebrating 2025 as ‘Urban Development year’, the government upgraded nine municipalities, including Navsari municipality, across the state, into Municipal Corporations on January 1 last year, adding new areas to the municipalities. The step was taken to accelerate urbanisation and enhance ease of living for citizens. For providing basic primary facilities to the citizens such as water supply, drainage pipelines, roads and sanitation in the newly added areas, NMC firmed up a project of setting up a new water supply and drainage network.Sources in the NMC said that through this project, the corporation will gradually construct modern infrastructure facilities such as new water and drainage pipelines, overhead tanks and underground septic tanks, drainage pumping stations, sewage treatment plants (STPs), and new water treatment plants in the areas. This will provide major relief to more than 25,000 locals from the problem of drinking water and sewage disposal. Health problems among children will also end.The new project in Navsari will not only improve infrastructure but also be an important step towards making the city cleaner, safer, and modern. In addition to roads, street lights, new drainage and water networks in the four villages included in the Municipal Corporation area, plans are also being made to develop gardens and ponds, construct a civic centre, and distribute dustbins for cleaning.Navsari Municipal Commissioner Dev Chaudhary said, “With beginning of the new year, the corporation is paying special attention to basic facilities in the city. This includes drainage, roads, storm-water, and water systems. A plan has been made to lay the entire network of drainage, water and storm water in four villages among newly added areas to the city. In the first phase, drainage and water supply work will be done in these four villages.
