By: Express News ServiceLucknow | January 19, 2026 05:31 AM IST 2 min readUttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly hosts the 86th All India Presiding Officers’ Conference at Vidhan Bhavan in Lucknow from January 19 to 21, 2026 (File)The state is set to host the 86th All India Presiding Officers’ Conference (AIPOC) and 62nd Conference of Secretaries of Legislative Assemblies and Legislative Councils of India from January 19 to 21, 2026, which is being hosted by the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly at UP Vidhan Bhavan.Increased security measures and traffic diversions are in place and also preparations are being made to take presiding officers from different parts of the country for a visit to Ram Temple in Ayodhya post conference.Presiding officers, secretaries and senior representatives from legislatures across the country will deliberate on key issues such as legislative procedures, parliamentary traditions, conduct of the House, good governance and other contemporary challenges before legislatures as well as use of technology during the three-day conference in Lucknow.The conference will be addressed and attended by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Chairman of the UP Legislative Council Kunwar Manvendra Singh, and UP Legislative Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, along with speakers, chairpersons and secretaries from multiple states.Officials informed that the inaugural session on January 19 will feature the formal opening of the conference, an exhibition inauguration, a group photograph and meetings of different committees in the presence of senior constitutional authorities. On January 20, the plenary session will witness detailed discussions on agenda items, while cultural programmes showcasing Uttar Pradesh’s rich heritage are also planned.The valedictory session on January 21 will include addresses by leading constitutional functionaries, focusing on strengthening legislative traditions, parliamentary innovations and democratic values. After the conclusion of the conference, delegates are scheduled to visit Ayodhya Dham on January 22, with departures planned for January 23.
