A 50-year-old man, working as a lineman with the TGSCPCL, died on Tuesday (September 16, 2025) evening after he was accidentally electrocuted while carrying out repair work on electricity lines in the Ramanthapur area, Hyderabad.As per the eyewitnesses, Seviya Naik, who was working as a lineman, came into contact with a live wire during the operation, said the Uppal Police Inspector, K. Bhaskar.Family members of the deceased expressed anger, holding the Electricity department responsible for his death. They alleged that negligence by officials led to Naik’s electrocution. The Uppal Police have registered a case and further investigation is under way.The latest incident follows a major tragedy in Ramanthapur less than a month ago. A Krishna Janmashtami procession on August 18 turned fatal when a 10-foot chariot, being carried by devotees, came into contact with a live overhead electric wire, leading to the death of five men and injuries to four others.Published - September 17, 2025 01:34 pm IST
