This is completely backwards

Wait 5 sec.

I'm American, and World Rugby's entire approach towards rugby in the entirety of the Americas right now pisses me off because it's completely backwards. I get it, believe me. The USA is an extremely wealthy market. Even a small portion of Americans taking to rugby would be a massive financial gain for the sport. So I get the economic reality, but just from a spirit of the game standpoint, I really wish the 2031 RWC would be taken from the USA, and given to South America, specifically Argentina, Uruguay & Chile. Super Rugby Americas has actually caught on. It's growing. Unsurprisingly, the only team they lose recently, was the single American team (American Raptors based in Greater Denver). I realize the theoretical ROI is much greater for the USA, but North Americans aren't taking to rugby. South Americans are. They should be rewarded, not have their funding stripped while the USA gets a massive injection, just as it's professional league is basically a zombie league. submitted by /u/Jumpy_Strain_6867 [link] [comments]
