(Representational)The Charkop police arrested a 41-year-old for allegedly killing his wife by strangling her during a fight between the couple on Saturday. Police said the couple’s minor son was witness to the incident and narrated it to the police. The accused was reportedly asking for money from his wife as he wanted to visit his native place in Odisha but she refused to give it to him. In a fit of rage, he allegedly strangled her to death.The arrested accused was identified as Dasa Rana, who is a labourer by profession.According to the police, the accused and his wife Himandri were working as labourers in an under construction building at Charkop, Kandivali (West). There were five to six couples working at the site for the last several months.One of the couple identified as Dasa Rana and his wife Himandri both were working for almost one year. The workers were staying at temporary structures at the construction site.The incident occurred around 2:30pm on Saturday when Dasa Rana and his wife were fighting over money as Rana wanted money to visit his native place in Odisha. She refused to give him the money, which led them to get into a heated argument. Rana, in his anger, first beat her badly and later strangled her to death with a bedsheet, said a police officer.The couple’s son was there at the time and witnessed the incident. Hearing the loud sound, the other workers gathered and knocked Rana’s door several times, so he opened the door. They found Himadri unconscious. The labour contractor was informed about the incident and they rushed her to the hospital where she was declared dead, added the official. The Charkop police questioned the accused who initially denied the incident, but his son was witness to the incident and he informed the police about the murder.
