Police Commissioner offers ‘pattu vastralu’ to Goddess Durga for Dasara utsavams

Rajashekara Babu and his wife offered pujas to Goddess Kanaka Durga at the ‘chettu’ (tree) and the temple located at One Town police station on Sunday (September 21, 2025).As part of the tradition, the Police Commissioner, along with the One Town police and his family performed pujas at Vinayaka temple and offered ‘pattu vastralu’ to the Goddess atop Indrakeeladri for Dasara Utsavams. The priests offered ‘teerdha prasadams’ to the police officers. Temple Executive Officer V.K. GIRIThe 12-day utsavams (including Teppotsavam) will begin with the deity giving ‘darshan’ to the devotees in ‘Bala Tripurasundari Devi’ alankaram on the first day on September 22, from 4 a.m. (Monday).₹500 ticket cancelled during utsavamNTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha said that the temple authorities made necessary arrangements. “Priority would be given to common devotees and wait time in the queue lines would be reduced. We have cancelled ₹500 ticket during the utsavams,” he added. The Collector said that VIP darshans will be allowed from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. only.“The entire Indrakeeladri is divided into 35 sectors, for which officers are appointed separately for each sector. Emergency gates were arranged for every 50 metres along the queue lines,” EO V.K. Seena Naik said.Traffic restrictionsThe Police Commissioner said that traffic restrictions will be imposed from September 22 to October 2, on all the main roads in Vijayawada. Traffic coming from Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Chennai and other cities will be diverted to avoid inconvenience to the devotees. Parking places have been arranged at Kummaripalem, Punnamighat, Gollapudi Market Yard, Punnami Ghat, Bhavani Ghat, B.R.T.S.
