Andhra Pradesh was recognised as an ‘Achiever’ in the State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI)-2024 prepared by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in association with the Alliance for an Energy Efficiency Economy, with 5–15 Million Tonnes of Oil Equivalent (Mtoe), according to a press release on Sunday (September 21, 2025) by BEE Media Advisor (South India) A. Chandra Sekhar Reddy.He said that BEE Director General Dhiraj Kumar Srivastava stressed that the SEEI–2024 would serve as a key policy tool for guiding State-level action plans, encouraging healthy competition, and accelerating India’s progress towards energy efficiency and climate goals.While releasing a special report on the positive impact of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in scaling up energy efficiency schemes, Mr. Srivastava highlighted that the special strategies and policies being implemented by the Ministry of Power in coordination with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), State Designated Agencies, DISCOMs, and industry stakeholders were yielding impressive results.So far, 53 Mtoe of energy and 321.06 billion units of electricity have been saved. Besides, the carbon dioxide emissions were reduced by 321.06 million tonnes. In SEEI-2024, Maharashtra stood as top Front Runner, followed by Andhra Pradesh, Assam (Contender) and Tripura (Aspirant).Published - September 21, 2025 11:28 pm IST
