Vadodara: Distribution of passes for Navratri event creates chaos

By: Express News ServiceAhmedabad | September 22, 2025 12:05 AM IST 2 min readDeputy Commissioner of Police (Zone1) Jagdish Chavda confirmed the incident, but added that no police action had been taken as there was no complaint.Chaos erupted at an office in the Alkapuri area of Vadodara on Sunday after hundreds of people thronged there to collect their Navratri passes for the famous United Navratri Mahotsav in the city.Following the chaos, a glass door of the office was broken in which a couple of persons sustained minor injuries.As per the details available, organisers of the Navratri event had outsourced the task of booking and providing 34,000 passes to an agency.A senior office-bearer of the group said on the condition of anonymity that the majority of the passes were delivered to the pass holders directly.However, due to some reasons, including heavy rain in Mumbai from where the passes were to be dispatched, the delivery of around 5,000-6,000 passes could not be done. Later, it was decided to provide the passes from the office in Alkapuri on Sunday. And messages were circulated on social media to collect the passes from the office. Following that, people thronged the place in big numbers to collect the passes, resulting in chaos.“Following the incident, we asked the agency to drop the idea of physically distributing the passes to those who did not get it.
