Danny Murphy believes Thomas Frank has rightly prioritised fixing Tottenham’s main problems from last season, with the pundit of the opinion that Spurs will evolve under the Dane.Tottenham have conceded just one goal in their five outings so far this season, which is an astonishing improvement compared to last season. While there is the caveat that Spurs were without their two starting centre-backs for a significant chunk of last season, it is undeniable that the Lilywhites had a leaky defence. The new defensive structure is having the desired effect, but Thomas Frank himself acknowledged that Tottenham struggled offensively against Villarreal.Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / InstagramDanny Murphy says Thomas Frank has got his priorities right at TottenhamThe one concern among Spurs fans would be that the team has not clicked as an attacking unit this season, but Frank is confident that his side will score goals once his attackers get used to playing together.Murphy has now said that the Dane has done the right thing by prioritising a solid defensive foundation at Tottenham Hotspur, and he believes that the North London side will evolve as an attacking force over the coming weeks and months. The former Spurs midfielder told talkSPORT, Murphy said: “He’s (Frank) fixing the main problem that Tottenham had last year, which is why they finished 17th. They conceded so many goals and they were wide open.“He’s gone in there and gone, ‘We’re going to be better defensively, first and foremost, and we’ll sacrifice the looking great and creativity for a little while. That’s exactly what you should do.“I think it will evolve from an attacking point of view, because they’ve got plenty of options to do that. But right now, he’s fixed the problem. Right now, some boring wins, which I’m sure Tottenham fans are happy with at the moment. He’s fixing [it]. They’ve had four clean sheets in five. That tells you they’re well organised.”The issue with Spurs’ style of play under Frank so farIt is still very early into Frank’s reign at Spurs, and it would be unfair to be anything but complimentary of the defensive solidity he has brought to the club. However, there is an inherent problem with his hyper-pragmatic approach: the style will become unpalatable the moment results are not positive. We saw with both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte that Tottenham fans quickly turned on the negative approach when results started worsening.Unless Spurs show a little more enterprise and creativity in possession, Frank also risks having fans turn on him when the team goes through a bad run of form.READ MORE: Joao Palhinha was shocked when he found out the real age of one Tottenham teammateThe post Danny Murphy says Thomas Frank has already fixed Tottenham’s biggest issue appeared first on Spurs Web.
