(Express Photo)Apple has been testing its music transfer tool for quite some time now. For those not in the know, the tool lets users import their playlists and library from music streaming platforms like Spotify to Apple Music. Initially available in Australia and New Zealand, the Cupertino-based tech giant announced that it is now available worldwide except for mainland China, Myanmar and Russia. If you want to transfer your music library from another music streaming service like Spotify, you will need an active Apple Music subscription, an iPhone, iPad or Android device with the latest version of the app, your username and password for the other music service and the Sync Library feature enabled for all your devices. To switch from other music streaming services to Apple Music on an iPhone or iPad, launch Settings, head over to the Apps section and tap on Music. Also Read | OpenAI to launch ‘teen-friendly’ ChatGPT amid growing user safety concernsIf you are on Android, launch the Apple Music app, click on the three-dot button and head over to Settings. Here, click on the “Transfer Music from Other Music Services” option and choose from the list of supported music streaming services. Sign in to the service from where you want to import your library and choose the content you want to transfer.Apple Music will now find matches for the music in its catalogue. Once done, you will either see a message saying “Transfer Complete” or “Some Music Needs Review”, which means Apple Music did not find an exact match for all your songs and will show a similar alternate version. If that’s the case, tap on “Review now” and you will be able to choose alternate versions of the music, which can be added to the library by clicking on the “Save” button that appears. For those on the web, the process is a bit different. To transfer music, open Apple Music from your web browser, sign in with your account, tap on your photo from the top right corner and select “Transfer Music”.In case your content is not available, Apple Music will give you 30 days from the initial transfer to “review unmatched music and choose from alternate versions.” Also, you won’t be able to start a new transfer on the device if there are some songs that need review. Another thing to note here is that only playlists that you created are transferable, so pre-made playlists like the ones on Spotify cannot be transferred.© IE Online Media Services Pvt LtdTags:Apple music
