‘Heartbroken’ – Ricky Hatton’s son Campbell releases emotional first message since boxer’s death

Ricky Hatton’s son has released a gut-wrenching statement after news of his father’s passing. British boxing legend Hatton was found dead at the age of 46 on September 14 with Greater Manchester Police confirming the news and saying the death is not being treated as suspicious.Hatton tragically died aged 46 with tributes pouring in, including from his beloved Man CitySon Campbell has now added his own words with an emotional social media postTributes poured in for the people’s champion and multi-world champion who is survived by three children, including son Campbell.The 24-year-old, who became a boxer himself and was even trained by his father, posted on social media following the tragic loss.“Heartbroken isn’t the word,” he wrote. “Everybody has always said I was your double and never a truer word said. “Looked up to you in every aspect of life. Can’t explain how much I’m going to miss the laughs we had and all the good times which I will remember forever. “Just can’t believe we won’t have anymore. Love you dad.”Ricky trained Cambpell who fought in 19 professional bouts before retiring earlier this year.Hatton senior praised his boy when he made the decision to hang up his gloves in July, while also revealing more heartbreak for the youngster.“No, Campbell won’t fight again,” Hatton said. “As you know, he didn’t have much amateur experience.“He gave it a go in the amateurs, and then he went pro and gave it a go. He fought for the Area title and got beaten. I thought he lost it to be fair.“But then he fought the same lad straight away after, I thought he won the second one; they were both very close fights.Hatton trained his son before announcing his retirement in July at the age of 24“But he lost a little bit of his mojo, and then a few things went wrong. Sadly, he lost one of his best friends, Justin, who passed away at 27 years of age.“He went through a bit for a time, and he was in the gym, and his heart wasn’t in it.“I said, ‘Listen son, you should be very proud of yourself, you have given it a go, but if you have lost your mojo, you need to get out’.“You can’t play boxing, you can play any other sport. So I advised him, and now he is doing solar panels.”Hatton had two other children, daughters named Millie and Fearne, mothered by Jennifer Dooley.Discussing his relationship with his son in 2012, Hatton said: “Being a world champion and being the best is what I work for but none of it compares to being a dad.Campbell was born in 2001 while Ricky was at the peak of his 43-fight winning run“Having Campbell as my son is – and always will be – my biggest-ever achievement.“I love boxing and I’m so proud of everything that I’ve achieved but Campbell is my pride and joy.“He is a complete clone of me. When I introduce people to him, they do a double-take because we’re so alike.“He’s so cute. Everything I do, I do for him.
